Blog Topics
Please EDIT this page and put in the topics you would like. If you don't like a topic here, feel free to change, delete, or extend it. You may want to click the eyeball icon so you can MONITOR this page and keep up with changes. Remember, your blog topic should motivate your colleagues to engage in critical thinking on an important topic--preferably one related to rhetoric and composition. I will not necessary use these topics, but will strongly consider them.
Your blog prompt should contain the following:
- Website where the "reading material" will be located
- Reason or purpose why the students should examine the site
- Questions for students to answer in their blogs
Week 12
- Blog Topic: Watch BBC International News on the WUSF channel at 6 AM, 5 PM, or 11 PM. Or, visit the website at http://news.bbc.co.uk/. Look or listen for a story that catches your attention and discuss the story and how you feel about it.
Week 13
- Blog Topic: Explain if peer reviews help you out when reconstructing your essay before the final draft is due. How do comments from other students help you in writing a better essay? Peer reviews are extremely helpful to me when writing an essay. Name some things that you struggle with when writing an essay that peer reviews point out and correct for you. Contributed by Sean Lonergan.
Week 14
- Blog Topic: Visit this site ( http://computer.howstuffworks.com/wimax.htm ) and read through the text. Describe how you think that technology like this will effect society, particularly education and communication, in the years to come.
Week 15
- Blog Topic: Visit the Center for Academic Integrity at http://www.academicintegrity.org/index.asp and explore the site and links. This site describes many different methods and resources for combating academic dishonesty. Describe the method you believe would be most effective and why. After conducting your own web search, share a site that further explores this issue with your fellow students. Be sure to read what others have posted so you do not duplicate websites.
- I did not want to delete the previous blog topic because I thought it might seem rude, so I will just provide an alternate topic to give a choice.*
Tell Mr. Barton about your experience in his Composition 2 Class. What did you like about it? What really helped your writing? What did you learn the most from? What didn't work? Also give suggestions about what might enhance the class and improve the learning experience for his next classes.
